Sarah Palin implemented a program to encourage the hunting of wolves in order to eliminate the natural predators of moose and caribou. Why? So that Alaskan hunters could have more moose and caribou to kill. She also asked Bush to exclude polar bears from the endangered species list. Watch this recent video of Palin’s interview while turkeys are being slaughtered for yet another reason to never vote for her.

Palin didn’t “invent it. It was in fact pre-Palin. She just made it worse and used $400K of taxpayer money to fight a proposition to stop the killing.
You are correct in the purpose of the kill, though. It is anti-science, pro-tourism.

Although Frank Murkowski – Alaska’s previous Republican Governor – signed the bill allowing citizens to gun down wild wolves from airplanes, Palin is responsible for encouraging the activity by offering a $150 bounty per wolf.
In sum, Murkowski authorized the killing of wolves. Palin, on the other hand, was responsible for actively promoting it.
You might want to take a deep breath. Alaskans, particularly the Inuit, eat moose and caribou. That is what poor people do, who can. They hunt their own food. I despise hunting for sport but have no issues with those who hunt in order to survive.
