On August 22 – 25, 2012, The Abolitionist Institute for Animals (IAA), in partnership with the Federal University of Pernambuco and Federal University of Bahia will hold the Third World Congress on Bioethics and Animal Rights.

The Congress, which will take place in Recife, Brazil, will feature scholars and activists from all over the world.  In addition, there will be a special panel and ceremony recognizing Professors David Cassuto, David Favre, and Steven Wise. These scholars will be awarded the title of Lifetime Member of the Institute in honor of their important work in the struggle for animal rights.  Favre, Cassuto and Wise will join the select group of lifetime members of the IAA, including Edna Dias Cardoso, Marly Winkler, and the founders of the IAA, Heron Gordilho, Luciano Santana and Laerte Lavai.

David Cassuto and David Favre participated in Animal Law’s successful inagural symposium in 2011, and Steven Wise has contributed articles to the law review in the past.

Animal Law extends its congratulations to all three, and is proud to have worked with such inspirational scholars!

  1. Congratulations, David and David and Steven.

If there’s a videotape of the conference that you think would interest us Blawg readers, I hope you’ll publish the link to it.

I hope much good for the free-living animals will come out of this congress. Enjoy your trip and time there.

  2. I would also love to see a tape of this conference. So many animals, all over this planet, are in great need of help, and mercy, from the human animals who cause immeasurable suffering to our brethren sentient beings.
